... And a 2013 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Winner!

The 2014 Subaru Forester was named a 2013 Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)3.

The IIHS's TSP+ award recognizes vehicles that earn good ratings in the Institute's moderate overlap front, side, rollover and rear tests, plus good or acceptable ratings in the new small overlap test. The small overlap test is designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or object like a tree or utility pole.

My son was diagnosed with autism at age 2. He is my pride and joy. To show my support and help raise awareness about autism, I painted my silver Forester XT blue and cut and placed all these decals by hand. 88 puzzle pieces to represent 1 in 88 children are affected by autism. Autism is nothing to be ashamed about. It is what makes my son unique. He is amazingly smart, funny and filled with joy. Our local news station even did an interview with me and my son. View now.

Electronic Devices and Driving Don't Mix

The U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released survey results that show Americans continue to use electronic devices while driving, despite warnings that it causes their own driving to deteriorate and can lead to crashes, injuries and even death.

According to separate NHTSA data, more than 3,300 people were killed in 2011 and 387,000 were injured in crashes involving a distracted driver.

To prevent distracted driving, the Department of Transportation recommends that drivers:

Turn off electronic devices and put them out of reach before starting to drive.
Be good role models for young drivers and set a good example. Talk with your teens about responsible driving.
Speak up when you are a passenger and your driver uses an electronic device while driving. Offer to make the call for the driver, so his or her full attention stays on the driving task.
Always wear your seatbelt. Seatbelts are the best defense against other unsafe drivers.
