
In August, a limited number of Subaru owners were privileged to take a tour of SIA, where Legacy, Outback, and Tribeca are manufactured. SIA associates gave the owner groups a 30-minute presentation along with a 60-minute guided tour of the plant and engine shop. In May, Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) donated a 2011 Outback Partial Zero Emission Vehicle for auction at the Heal the Bay® Bring Back the Beach fundraiser. Money from the fundraiser supports the Coastal Cleanup Day program.
In 2009, more than 14,000 Heal the Bay volunteers removed a total of 300,413 pounds of debris and recyclables from 69 sites.
SOA also donated $50 for each test-drive taken by Heal the Bay supporters in the Los Angeles, California, area during the month of May.
The Subaru Trek team had a strong showing in the Subaru Cup that was held in Wautoma, Wisconsin, on June 26 and 27, 2010.
In the Legacy 24-mile, cross-country race, Willow Koerber finished second and national champion Heather Irmiger placed third. For the 28-mile men's race, Sam Schultz came in first, national champion Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski placed fourth, and Russell Finsterwald finished 15th.
The Impreza Short Track race also had impressive finishes from the team. In the women's race, Willow Koerber placed fourth, even with a crash, and Heather Irmiger finished eighth. The men consistently battled for the win, with Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski placing second, Sam Schultz third, and Russell Finsterwald 25th.
