Following four years of rumor and speculation and a world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show in December 2011, the U.S.-spec version of the 2013 Subaru BRZ debuted at the North American International Auto Show on January 9, 2012. This fun-to-drive sports car features a platform that provides exceptional handling.

The BRZ two-door sports car features 2+2 seating, a 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER with a combination of direct and port injection, and a compact size.

For all Subaru vehicles, the boxer engine contributes to a low center of gravity for improved handling. The BRZ was conceptualized to take this advantage to the extreme – to make a car with the lowest possible center of gravity and having unique balance. The purpose-built architecture allows the SUBARU BOXER engine to be mounted lower and farther rearward than in other Subaru models, giving the BRZ a center of gravity among the lowest of any production car, at any price. Combined with a lightweight chassis, this layout results in astonishing handling characteristics and allows the BRZ to take the driving experience to a new level.

The BRZ is scheduled to be in Subaru dealerships in late spring 2012. Find details in Drive Performance Version 9.1 at starting March 16, 2012. Also, sign up for BRZ email updates on, and Like us on
