39 Subaru Vehicles
by Angelo Perrone, Oxford, Connecticut
We have been a Subaru family since our first Subaru purchase in 1982. We bought a new Subaru GL – a white, four-door sedan with 400 miles on it. The sticker price was $5,800, from Mount Kisco Subaru.
Since then, we have bought 37 more over the past three decades, and just this week we bought two new 2014 Foresters. Our latest purchases bring us to a total of 39 Subaru vehicles!
We have owned every model, in every color. We made the bulk of those purchases from Colonial Subaru in Danbury, Connecticut.

We thought this photo was great. Either car or any boat is ready for action: 2007 B9 Tribeca (aka The Beast) – my third Subaru; 2012 Outback, owned by Trudy Brandenburg – her first, but probably not last.
When we go on group kayaking trips, it looks like a Subaru convention.
Bluebirds of Discernment
by Susan G. DeVan, Romney, West Virginia
A flock of bluebirds has an apparent obsession with our 2011 Subaru Outback! About six days ago, the birds began congregating on our car, specifically on the driver’s side, along the window frame and side view mirror. They push each other out of the way, peck at the mirror, and attack the “interlopers” they see in the mirror or reflected in the glass of the window. There are somewhere between six and 10 birds taking turns at the window, and this goes on from dawn until the sun sets.
When we drive off (after cleaning the door of the calling cards the bluebirds have left behind), the birds are waiting for our return, take up their positions as soon as we go into the house, and resume “belly-busting” the reflected birds.
Our bluebirds do not migrate, but hang around throughout the winter. This, however, is the first time such an obsession with our Outback has surfaced.
Not only Subaru owners LOVE their Subaru vehicles! Discerning bluebirds know a good car when they see one!

I saw the new commercial with the dad teaching his twin boys to drive in an older Subaru, struggling with a manual transmission. When I leased a 2006 Impreza with manual transmission, it was when my identical twin sons were just a couple months short of their 16th birthday, and it was EXACTLY like the commercial – me teaching them how to drive first in our church’s huge parking lot, then to the street. It was absolutely grueling with a stick shift – one in the driver’s seat, me in passenger seat, a twin brother in back. Just like the commercial ... hilarious.
I have seen it a couple times and keep meaning to tell my twin boys, but just a few minutes ago one of them called me and asked, “Dad, have you seen the new Subaru commercial?” We were in tears laughing!
First Two-Subaru Road Trip
by Dave McNamara, Moorpark, California
My daughter, Keiko, bought her first car this spring – a 2013 Impreza – after test-driving lots of competitors’ cars. I guess there was no doubt she’d settle on the Subaru given our love of our 2010 Outback (and our Forester before that).
We had a family reunion and took our first two-car road trip together. This picture was taken overlooking Mono Lake in California after a day trip to Bodie.
