Winter 2014 About the Author Scott Marland Chairman of the Board of Directors, National Ski Patrol Winter 2014 A Subaru partner since 1995, the nonprofit National Ski Patrol (NSP) provides safety and emergency-care education programs to the public and the mountain recreation industry. The association’s 28,000 members also represent 98 percent of the nation’s professional and volunteer patrollers. These committed individuals put their safety on the line every day to make the slopes safer for snow sport enthusiasts. The NSP’s training programs have evolved over the years as new mountain recreation activities such as snowboarding, tubing, and snow skating have emerged. Greater access to the backcountry requires additional safety considerations as well. A MATCH MADE IN SNOW HEAVEN The partnership between Subaru and the NSP is a natural. Both organizations share the same passion for exploring, adventuring, and trekking into the mountains. Beyond a mutual love for the outdoors, Subaru and the NSP remain steadfast in their commitment to safety and respect for the environment.
